Members of the National Association of Patent Attorneys of Ukraine never get bored – every Wednesday, they can count on engaging #AskNAPA meetings. These sessions cover current issues in IP practice both in Ukraine and beyond. With EU intellectual property norms being increasingly integrated into Ukrainian legislation, we’re drawing more on the experience of European colleagues and inviting them to share their practices.
During yesterday’s #AskNAPA meeting, moderated by Viktoriia Ostapchuk, our invited speaker Vilija Viesunaite — a European patent attorney and managing partner of the pan-Baltic law firm Triniti — shared her insights on EUTM opposition proceedings. She discussed procedural aspects of filing and examining oppositions, as well as practical tips for opposition resolution. Given that 90% of oppositions are resolved through settlement agreements, Vilija highlighted advice for successful negotiations and compromise options for the parties involved.
Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions about EU trademark registration practices and receive valuable advice.
Thanks to NAPA, its members have the essential space to exchange experiences and knowledge. And, of course, heartfelt gratitude to Vilija for her readiness to share her expertise and her unwavering support for Ukrainians!
