IP Ukraine Now 2020

Traditionally, one of the significant Ukrainian IP events is held in autumn – IP Ukraine Now, organized by the Ukrainian Bar Association. This year it was held in an unusual online format, but it did not lose overall productivity.

Leading IP lawyers, judges, representatives of government officials and public organizations attended the event. The agenda included discussion of such important issues as reforming the state system of the legal protection of intellectual property and the creation of national intellectual property authority, the formation of IP court, recent changes in IP legislation, IP protection at the customs border and online piracy, payment of royalties to collective management organizations, practical nuances of dispute resolution under the UDRP and UA-DRP procedures.

Anna Kravchuk, a partner of Synergy IP Law Agency, moderated a session on intellectual property reform and legislation. In particular, speakers focused on changes in patenting procedures, registration of industrial designs and trademarks, and compared the new rules with European approaches.

Next year, we hope that nothing will interfere to held the event in the usual format because nothing can compare with live communication and a personal meeting with colleagues.
